What a blow…..

I spent two days last week allegedly helping run an early pregnancy research meeting.  In fact, as I have explained before, having no medical knowledge other than a penchant for American medical dramas, my role is distinctly ‘back room’.  Well, kitchen to be exact. As quickly as I produced food, it disappeared, again and again.  It went more quickly than when feeding 11 year old boys, who would eat their knives and forks if they could…

Actually, I loved it as there is nothing more satisfying if you enjoy cooking, than feeding people who enjoy what you have made – but the body blow came later..

In my other role as chief taxi driver, I was delivering someone back to the station, to then head off to the Eurostar, when we started to discuss the dilemma that all working women face when they want a career as well as a family.  Bearing in mind that I had chatted to this lovely vivacious 25 year old  girl for two days (amidst making cakes), imagine my distress, and how hard I had to work to hide it, when she said that it was obviously hard for my age group but that her generation were going to struggle even more – HER GENERATION, how old did she think I was!!  I may have hit 40 this year, but only on my passport.  I have  felt about 28 for years – well, until I was firmly taken down a peg or two
